Tamale Chili Pie

As the temperatures begin to get colder, I love this hearty comfort dish. It's super simple to make with only a few ingredients. I love to pair this with individual cornbread or the traditional corn chips.

Equipment

  • 1 9x9 square baking dish

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can chili 15 ounce
  • 1 can beef tamales 15 ounce
  • 1 jalapeno seeded and diced
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tbsp sour cream optional
  • 1 tbsp chopped green onions optional

Instructions
 

  • Unwrap and cut tamales into thick slices
  • Chop onion and dice jalapeno
  • Place tamale slices in a square baking dish that has been greased
  • Add chili, onion, and jalapeno
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes until bubbly
  • Add shredded cheddar cheese on top and bake for 5 more minutes
  • Serve and Enjoy with dollop of sour cream and chopped green onions
  • Consider serving with cornbread or corn chips
